Durham MG Club Beamish Show

The Durham MG club held their 2nd annual Beamish show over the weekend of 3rd and 4th of June.
On the Saturday night was a buffet in the tea room above the cooperative store. Cars were allowed into the town and were parked in front of the period buildings.
Approximately 30 cars mostly MG’s although there one or two other classic marques were represented. It was a warm and sunny evening with good food and a few pints in the Sun Inn (for those not driving) and was great to see all the classics parked along the main street.

The Sunday event was a car show in the main field at Beamish representing MG’s from the early day’s right up to 2006 registered models. Unfortunately the weather was not as kind and for the first hour we got rather wet (especially as we were on the gate directing the cars in without any umbrella or shelter). The rain did not last long so after a cup of tea we had a look round the cars. About 150 had turned up and most were in tip top condition ready to compete in the concours competition later in the day. Once again we partook in sampling the fine ales in the Sun Inn and had a good look round Beamish. One area of particular interest was the newly opened Masonic Hall which was fascinating, the rebuilding of the hall showed the skills of the craftsmen that have reconstructed it as well as the original splendor of the building.
